New information from Waste Management

The Utility Department is responsible for utility billing and payment processing. Residential customers are billed every two months and commercial customers (including apartments/ townhomes) are billed monthly.  Garbage and recycling service (provided by Waste Management) is included with water service for residential customers. Green yard waste totes and recycling totes are provided to residential customers.

Waste Management has a new website devoted to Springfield! Collection instructions, holiday pick-up schedules and missed pick-up requests are available online check it out.


With increasing cases of bed bugs, Waste Management requires all mattresses and box springs to be wrapped in plastic for the protection of their drivers. Mattresses and box springs not wrapped in plastic will not be taken. If you are planning to place a mattress curb-side please call City Hall at (269) 965-8014 to report it. Notifying WM in advance is the best way to ensure your mattress will be picked up on your regular garbage day.

Quick Facts:

Garbage and Yard Waste pick-up Monday: Yard Waste pick-up is April through November
(yard waste totes can be used for garbage December through March).

Recycling: 1st and 3rd Mondays or 2nd and 4th Mondays see map. (No pick-up on 5th Mondays)

Billings cycles are two months for residential accounts / monthly for commercial accounts (apartments and townhomes)

Garbage totes are not provided

Yard waste and recycling totes are included with service
